The alchemist and faith healer Doctor Johann Georg Faust lived in Staufen towards the end of his life, where he is said to have been killed in a chemical experiment at the Löwen Tavern around 1540. In Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's tragedy „Faust“, Mephisto makes him agree on a wording which ensures eternal life to him. Faust is to utter it in the moment he recognizes as the highest of all –  something he will never do.

Then, to the Moment I’d dare say: / ‘Stay a while! You are so lovely!’
Through aeons, then, never to fade away / This path of mine through all that’s earthly.
Anticipating, here, its deep enjoyment, / Now I savour it, that highest moment.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: Faust. The Second Part of the Tragedy in Five Acts, 1832 (verses 11851-11856)
Translation by A.S. Kline (here altered in the second line)
